Creating Eye-Catching Displays

Unleashing the Power of 3D Modeling in Design

When our Director of Design Communications approached me with a special initiative for our writing brands, I was thrilled to take on the challenge. Our customer wanted a new display that would effectively showcase individual pens and markers, clearly indicating their price points, while also organizing them in a unique and attention-grabbing manner. As someone who had become known as the go-to source for 3D rendering at Newell Brands, I was excited to utilize my skills in developing the perfect structure.

To begin, I focused on utilizing 3D modeling to create a visually compelling display that would captivate shoppers. The concept involved individual cups with a snap together construction similar to Lego bricks, allowing the pens to be securely held inside the cups. By snapping the bottom of each cup to the base, we ensured stability and easy assembly. This structure offered a seamless combination of functionality and aesthetics.

To complement the 3D rendering, we also incorporated printed graphics. The structure featured built-in areas where graphics could be displayed, which could be easily replaced by sliding the poster material into the designated channel. This allowed for flexibility in showcasing different designs and promotions while maintaining consistency and clarity.

In addition to the cup-based display, we presented a secondary concept featuring a tower spindle. This design was specifically created for checkout kiosks, providing a convenient and visually appealing way to showcase the pens at the point of purchase. The tower spindle not only maximized space utilization but also ensured easy accessibility for customers.

By providing both visual renderings of the pens organized with their final colors and materials, as well as 3D models for reference, we were able to effectively communicate how these displays would both look and function. The combination of detailed visuals and practicality allowed our team to present a compelling solution to our customer's needs.

Collaborating on this project as a Principal and Design Lead, I was thrilled to contribute my expertise in structural design and 3D modeling to create captivating displays that truly made an impact. This initiative showcased the power of leveraging technology and creative thinking to deliver innovative solutions.
