Creating Memorable Customer ExperienceS
Transforming Presentations with Immersive Environments

The Newell leadership team gathered for our recurring internal meeting, where project updates were discussed. During the meeting, our Senior Vice President announced an upcoming visit from one of our major retail customers to our Design Center. This visit called for a presentation led by our design, marketing, and sales teams. We aimed to showcase future product innovations, rebranded products that would recapture consumer attention, and, most importantly, our Design Center and its exceptional creative talent, including graphic designers, industrial designers, fashion experts, usability experts, and model shop craftsmen. The ultimate goal was to leave a lasting impression, exciting our customer about the potential for collaboration and the work ahead.
Our leadership group was tasked with developing ideas to make the presentation truly memorable while fulfilling all our objectives. I presented a concept that involved creating a functional kitchen and living space within our office. This immersive setting would beautifully demonstrate the seamless integration of our brands and the customer's private label brands in a home environment, enhancing the impact of the presentation. The concept sparked immediate excitement among the team, and we swiftly discussed its feasibility.
I was given the responsibility of bringing this concept to life. Drawing on my past experience in environmental design and my extensive network, I reached out to trusted contacts for advice and connections. Additionally, I sought a vendor who could help construct the set piece within our office space. By providing detailed sketches, a comprehensive development plan for a modular, mobile, and fully powered structure, and highlighting the future usability of the kitchen set for internal test photography and studies, we crafted an environment that went beyond the expected foam core poster boards with fancy graphics. We designed a truly memorable experience, paying attention to the smallest details—preparing freshly cooked meals in our branded food containers, showcasing stored food and branded products in the fridge, and placing everyday products in the cabinets and drawers.
None of this would have been possible without the trust of our leadership team and the collaborative spirit of my senior design manager/director. Her exceptional design sense and aesthetic brought the final touches to life, incorporating carefully selected products purchased from our retail partner's store. These additions further accentuated the objectives of our meeting, creating a truly immersive and impactful experience.
